I have decided to start a blog. I have always read a lot of them and have immense respect for individuals like Seth Godin and Fred Wilson who have continuously pumped out quality content for years. However, my main reasoning is pretty straightforward.
Firstly, I have a lot of thoughts. I am twenty-one years old and six months from university graduation. There is a lot going through my head. It ranges from deciding on what career path to take to the opportunities I see in the world around me.
Secondly, I like the idea of having an archive of these thoughts. It will be interesting to look back in a few years and get a picture of what I have accomplished and how my opinions have been shaped and changed.
Thirdly, I want to improve my writing. The ability to write effectively and concisely is an essential skill in today’s word. I wrote a lot in high school and college, primarily because the subjects I enjoyed were very ‘write-up’ focused. My academic writing style is fairly well developed, but that doesn’t mean that my writing cannot improve. Being able to write freely and unconstrained will hopefully help improve these skills.
I am not putting any on pressure on myself. No post schedules, no restriction of topics, no word counts. Let’s just see where it goes.
